What happens when you strike oil?
If you’re lucky enough to have your well hit pay dirt, you have a whole new set of challenges on your hands. These are some of the questions you will have to ask yourself.
Is the well economically productive?
What is the mix of oil and natural gas in the well?
Is it flowing like crazy… or not at all?
What is the optimum setup to get the most out of the reservoir before the flow stops?
What are you doing to protect the environment?
How big is the reservoir?
Should you drill more wells?
These questions are answered during well completion and production. Once the well is completed and the oil and gas are flowing—or not flowing, as the case may be—there are many options available to help produce as much petroleum from the reservoir as possible.
